I received my bachelors degree from Washington State University in 1998, my masters degree from Western Washington University in 2000, and my doctorate degree through PCO School of Audiology in 2005. As secretary for WSA I am excited to be part of a local organization that promotes the growth and independence of the Audiology profession. Currently I enjoy helping evaluate patients with balance disorders and offering aural rehabilitation through the use of hearing aids and ALDs. In my free time I like to play volleyball, quilt, entertain my black lab Sienna, and spend time with my husband.

I've been a practicing Audiologist for 28 years having graduated from the UW in 1978 with my MSPA and a CDS. I spent 12 years working with some great ENTs and then began working for myself in 1991 with a private practice on the campus of the Providence Hospital in Seattle.
In my little office I get to provide a lot of interesting diagnostic evaluations for hearing and balance as well as fit hearing aids on a population which reflects the make up of the city; lots of patients between 25 and 55 with pediatrics, geriatrics and all age ranges of recent immigrants with unusual-to-Seattle problems and limited English. I mostly see patients who are self referred or come by way of their primary care provider, radiologist or neurologist.
In the past I have been a secretary for WSA and represented WSA (with Dr. Rand) on the interest area of Hearing for the Washington State Healthcare Reform Committee in 1993-4. I was also an Editor of the Newsletter for a couple of years. But, in terms of representing Audiology to the world, don't we all do that every day by doing our best for that one patient sitting in front of us?
In the wider world I live on Tiger Mountain with my husband Steve Ellis, 2 border collies, 2 Siamese cats, 2 birds (Sun Conure and Cockatiel) and one Rocky Mountain horse. Our son Graham goes to university at Simon Fraser in Canada.

I have very much enjoyed meeting many of my esteemed colleagues over the last year as the President Elect and I look forward to working with and getting to know even more of you over the next two years in the President and Past President positions. Last year's President Elect position held many challenges including the organization of the Spring and Summer meetings and the setting up the elections for the current year. I have learned a great deal from those experiences and I look forward to the challenges that the position of President brings.
